The JUDGMENT

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27.

What man is it that can stand in the judgment ? Only One, the man Christ Jesus. Believers have an advocate with the Father. I John 2:1

For Israel, the great judgment day was symbolized by the Day of Atonement which came on the 10th day of the 7th month or about 2/3 of the way through their year.

According to Usher s chronology Jesus appeared about 2/3 of the way through the 6,000 years of world history. From Adam to Abraham 2,000 years. From /\Abraham to Christ 2,000 years. From Christ to the present 2,000 years.

Beginning in John 12:23, Jesus speaks of His impending death. In verse 31 He says,

NOW IS THE JUDGMENT OF THIS WORLD !

Because of Adam the whole world fell into sin. Because of Christ, who took Adam s place, justification of life came upon men, Romans 5:12,18,19 . Jesus is the Advocate, the One who stands for the believers in the judgment.

When a person's case come up in court and a guilty verdict is rendered, a punishment is meted out. Jesus who took guilty Adam's place became guilty and " ...the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6 .

Again, the words of Jesus, NOW IS THE JUDGMENT OF THIS WORLD .

While the Bible says that all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, all relievers did appear in Christ at the judgment of this world at the cross in 31 AD .

Understanding these words of Jesus that NOW IS THE JUDGMENT OF THIS WORLD, it seems that the more modern versions of John 5:24 must be accepted, such as :

Truly, truly, I say unto you, he who hears my word, and believes Him who sent me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. NASB . Also see The New English Bible, NASV,The Jerusalem Bible, Today's English Version, Phillips Modern Version.

At the cross was the judgment of this world. Jesus stood for His people and the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Believers do not come into judgment for Jesus stood for them.

The judgments in Daniel 7 and Revelation 20 are for those who resisted the drawing to Jesus who was their Pardon, so having no Advocate must appear for themselves.
