Article 19
In Elijah's day, there was a famine in the land for hearing the word
of the Lord. Israel, God's true people on earth, were worshipping.Baal,
a false Christ.
At Mt. Carmel, Elijah put the question to Israel: "How long halt
ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal,
then follow him."
"AND THE PEOPLE ANSWERED HIM NOT A WORD."
The people did not know the difference. God's true people were worshipping
a false Christ and did not know it.
GOD'S TRUE PEOPLE WERE WORSHIPPING A FALSE CHRIST AND DID NOT KNOW IT!
Elijah brought down the fire.
"And when ALL the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they
said, the Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God" (I Kings
18:21,39). Notice that ALL, all the true people of God were able to see
that they had been worshipping a false Christ when the fire came down.
All the true people believed.
The last words of the Old Testament tell us that before the great and
dreadful day of the Lord, God will send Elijah the prophet (Malachi 4:5).
WHY? WHY does God send Elijah the prophet?
Could it be that God's true people in the last days are worshipping a
false Christ and DO NOT KNOW IT?
In most of the churches in America, people believe they are saved by
something that takes place in THEIR hearts - Catholic justification -
rather than something that. HAS taken place in Jesus 2,000 years ago -
Pauline, Protestant justification.
Just as the Holy Spirit (fire) came down in great power on the Day of
Pentecost for the sowing of the gospel seed, which was the early or former
rain, so in the last days the Holy Spirit (fire) comes down for the harvest
of the gospel, which is the latter rain (Joel 2:23; Jeremiah 5:24; Hosea
6:3; Deuteronomy 11:14; James 5:7,8; and Acts 3:19,20).
The mighty message of Christ, of the justification, the redemption, the
righteousness the believer has in Him, goes forth as the locust army in
Joel. It is unstoppable.
BLOW THE TRUMPET IN ZION!
"I will both search my sheep, and seek them out ... and will deliver
them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and
dark day. And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from
the countries ..." (Ezekiel 34:11-13).
This last great message of Christ and His righteousness given with the
power of the Spirit enable God's people to SEE what they could not SEE
before: That the abomination of desolation, the false Roman gospel, is
standing in the holy place, the church. They heed the advice of Jesus
and flee (Matthew 24:15,16; and Mark 13:14,15).
Babylon, the confused gate of God, has fallen and God's people come out
of her (Revelation 18:1-4).
The hearts of the children - American Protestants - are turned to the fathers of the Reformation.
