Article 16

And Saul, yet breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any OF THIS WAY, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem (Acts 9:1,2).

Saul is converted to be Paul.

And he (Paul) went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of THAT WAY before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus (Acts 19:8,9).

And at the same time there arose no small stir about THAT WAY (Acts 19:23).

And I persecuted THIS WAY unto death (Acts 22:4).

But this I confess unto thee, that after THE WAY which they call heresy, so worship I, the God of my fathers … and when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of THAT WAY (Acts 24:14, 22).

I am THE WAY, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living WAY (Hebrews 10:20).

THY WAY, O God is in the sanctuary (Psalm 77:13).

"Let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them" (Exodus 25:8).

Under Moses supervision, a portable tabernacle was built in the wilderness. The articles of furniture and the services connected with it all pointed to Jesus.

An example would be the Table of Shewbread and the Golden Candlestick He is the Bread of Life and the Light of the World. Christ is both the Sacrifice and the Priest who administers the Sacrifice.

Instructions were given for individuals to bring a certain type of offering when they sinned. However, every morning and every evening a lamb was offered for the people. The smoke of these burnt offerings could be seen from every section of the camp. Each Hebrew knew that a sacrifice had been made for him.

These lambs were to be offered "... day by day continually ..." to be "... a continual burnt offering ...;' a DAILY SACRIFICE (Exodus 29:38,42).

The DAILY SACRIFICE was FOR the people. While on their way to Mt. Moriah, Isaac asked his father Abraham, "... where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" The answer was, "... God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering..." (Genesis 22:7,8).

Yes, God provided His Son as a sacrifice for the sins of the people. The very essence of the gospel is found in figure, in shadow, in type in the DAILY SACRIFICE. In this way, the gospel was preached unto them, the children of Israel (Hebrews 4:2).
